Membership Committee

  • Oversee a process to verify membership status, particularly with gratis memberships (i.e. student and trainee).
  • Oversee yearly membership renewal campaign.
  • Manage membership application review weekly or monthly as reports are provided.
  • Assemble member related communications and highlights.
  • Translate member needs into a larger educational campaign using social media or direct communications.
  • Monitor and update membership related changes and member benefits based on feedback from members.

Program Committee

  • Plan educational content for SBP companion meetings at the ASCP annual meeting, and others, with the assistance and approval of the Board of Directors.
  • Act as Liaison with DEI committees from other pathology related societies:
    • American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP)
    • College of American Pathologists (CAP)
    • United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology (ASCP)
    • National Association of Medical Examiners (NAME)
  • Plan and organize educational content (i.e. webinars) for the SBP and perform needs assessments to identify gaps in knowledge with support through surveys.
  • Work closely with the SBP Website and Social media committee to promote and communicate member presentations at other pathology meetings.

SBP Website and Social Media Committee

  • Committee will keep website and social media content updated with upcoming events sponsored by the SBP.
  • Work closely with the SBP membership committee around updates to membership and leadership roles on the SBP website.
  • Highlight members of the SBP in social media posts/retweets and their Accomplishments.
  • Manage updates to the SBP website content reflecting current and updated work.

SBP Outreach Committee

  • Sponsor and plan outreach events of the SBP.
  • Manage connections between SBP members with the goal of mentoring at the levels indicated below to further promote our goal of earlier exposure of pathology to groups that are URiM:
    • High School
    • Undergraduate/Graduate School
    • College
    • Medical School
    • Pathology Residency
  • Determine and execute optimal modes mode of outreach, to include direct communications,
    social media use and/or one-to-one mentorship in special circumstances and for specific purposes.
